Micheal Walker is a paid (and dare I say it well paid) professional jockey who is there to do a job and do it to the best of his ability and to the satisfaction of his employer. He can be proud of his heritige but he can be proud of it in his time and without having to offend those people who do not wish to see such stupid and PC orientated displays.
I am getting a bit tired of seeing the old culture thing trotted out like a limp cloth. Seems like every 2nd event has to have a haka or a maori prayer or blessing or some cultural thing or other. Keep the culture part for relevant places such as marae and leave the rest of the country for all to enjoy without fear or favour.

Rude disgraceful behaviour

that should be punished by a suspension. This young man is a sensational jockey but he needs to pull his horns in. Drug taking, drink driving, driving while disqualified, arrogance and now tongue poking.I trust Lindsey Hofman gets herself a good brief ..someone like Ginger Tankard but not Barry Hart

what pisses me off the most

rumpole if any other jockey was to gesture or sulute before after or crossing the winning line winning any sort of race

off course the stipes did the right thing

and god he can show his maroi culture other ways

wh is there allways one rule for micheal walker one rule for evrery1 else

if he was true preffesional as he say hes trying to be he would of told his mates that now he couldnt do that

but it be intresting reading the stipes report

maybe another jockey could of taken offence and shoulda complainned to the stipes

He's proud of his heritage but doesn't respect others. Good on you Micheal as poking of tongues and your statement says alot about your heritage. Unfortunately some heritages and cultures also find it offensive so respect them.

Just as well we don't have any Scots or Irish jockeys in NZ doing acts, don't think the public would find the finger as acceptable either or the wearing of kilts in the saddle.

As a person of Irish heritage I was deeply offended when he poked out his tongue at me.Why can't he keep his heritage in the proper place??
