Woohoo
That's awesome he seems to have settled in easier then Auckland Reactor apparently has. Can't wait to see how well he'll continue.

Speaking of Auckland Reactor, I see that they've diverted from the original plan, and he isn't starting in the first of the big races they'd planned for him this weekend after all. All the topliners are in at Tioga chasing the big money and he's lining up at Chester against the second raters for a fraction of the money.
Awesome Armbro is racing for about the same money in his first race up there. But the ironic part is that Awesome Armbro cost about 1/40 of the amount Auckland Reactor did.
With Auckland Reactor struggling to live up to expectations, and Awesome Armbro seemingly already having exceeded expectations, it will be very interesting to see which direction their respective careers head after this weekends racing.

He always showed exceptional leg speed here but New Zealand racing, with it's preponderance of standing starts and middle distances, did not allow his talents to be displayed on a regular basis.
From his 3 year old days onwards he only raced over one mile, or 1700 metres, on five occasions- and two of those were in Australia.
His settling in to the Ontario scene so quickly must be a welcome bonus for his connections and his future career will be followed with much interest.

ha ha ".awesome armbro already exceeded expectations". they can't have been very high then.
this story was just another PR piece for john curtin.
amazing how people have short memories, wasn't that long ago everyone was this excited after AR 1st qualifier.
not only is AR dodging the best at tioga he's also dropped down a grade at chester, no doubt scared of montecito.

I think Tioga is an invitational so I don`t think they like what they saw and did not invite him

So you expected Awesome Armbro to have achieved even more so soon after stepping off the plane?
I hardly think he needs to be in any way compared to the hype surrounding Auckland Reactor. I don't recall anyone claiming that Awesome Armbro was going to conquer the world. Although I do think he'll turn out to be a much better value-for-money buy that Auckland Reactor - on the race track at least!
The one thing he will appreciate, is being treated as a top class horse in his own right, rather than the raceday version of a galloping pacemaker.

......in some 85 starts AA probably raced stablemates about 20 times , sometimes 2 or 3 stablemates in a race.
In most of these he was nowhere near his stablemates in the running.
Can't remember him being pushed to the front too often ,setting a brisk pace in the form of a galloping pacemaker.
Who could forget the last NZ Free For All when he 'shocked the nation by eyeballing the Champ' and possibly may have dragged up a friend a couple of times ......possibly a total of 3 times which you racing purists object to.
Hardly a galloping pacemaker !!!!
Hope he does his new owners proud.

If you're going to quote me Gary, you may as well do it accurately. I said he was used as the "raceday version of a galloping pacemaker". In other words, he often did the bullocking work with the usual beneficiary on his back!
Personally, I think he'll turn out to be a bargain buy for his new owners. In fact I suggested a couple of years ago, to a friend who was a member of the 05 syndicate, that they should pony up the $300-$400 each that it would have taken to send him to NA, and race him over their themselves.
The suggestion never went any further. Not really a syndicate mentality idea!
Nevertheless, they'll get a lot of enjoyment watching him strut his stuff around various NA tracks over the next few seasons, as I'm sure you will.
